In the movie world the name Connery is synonymous with an action man
image.

But unlike former 007 Sean, the new Connery on the block is aged just
seven and is one of the UK's youngest stuntmen.

Kali Connery has been filming The Dark, a new film starring Lord of the
Rings actor Sean Bean and Coyote Ugly star Maria Bello.

The youngster, a pupil at Builth Wells Primary School, is following in his
stuntman father Gary's footsteps.

"Kali has enjoyed telling his friends at school in Builth about meeting
Sean Bean" - Kali's mother Vivienne Connery

Gary, who is stunt double for actor Dominic Morrissey in The Dark alongside
his son, said: "Kali has long blonde hair and is aged seven so some
people mistake him for a girl.

"For his role in The Dark that was quite handy as he plays a girl in his
stunt roles."

Mr Connery, who has just completed work on a new Gary Oldman movie,
Dead Fish, added: "He's filmed in the Isle of Man and will film in Devon
on 10 August and one of his stunts includes a jump into water.

"The jump is only seven feet, but on film it will look like he's jumping off a
cliff at about 200ft."

Kali is not the only Welsh face in The Dark.

Abigail Stone, a pupil at Cynffig Comprehensive in Kenfig Hill, south Wales,
started filming at the end of June.
And Kali doubles for Abigail's character in the stunt scenes.

Kali's mother Vivienne said The Dark was her son's third role.

"As well as The Dark, Kali has worked on Monarch of the Glen and a
Paramount comedy channel advert which featured actor Charlie Sheen,"
she added.

Abigail Stone began filming at the end of June

"Kali has enjoyed telling his friends at school in Builth about meeting
Sean Bean.

"He was in make up with him one day and they chatted about the film.
"Kali has been interested in stunt work for a few years since he understood
what his dad did for a living.

"I think he wants to work as a stuntman when he's older - that's what he
says at the moment anyway.

"He doesn't seem to have any fear and his dad has passed on a few tips
too about stunt work.

"He's working in Devon and then he'll work in a film studio water tank to
help illustrate a cliff fall.

"I think he got his role in The Dark because of his long blonde hair."

Kali will share the screen with Rings
star Sean Bean

The Dark centres around an American couple who lose their daughter.
Bean and Bello play American parents who encounter a strange Welsh girl
(Abigail Stone) the day their daughter dies in a drowning accident.

Abigail's character bears a striking resemblance to the lost child.
The film is based on a book by Simon Maginn entitled Sheep, which is set
in Wales in the 1950s.

Kali and his family plan to continue with stunt work and moved to
Maidenhead, in Berkshire, two weeks ago, where they will be closer to
much of Mr Connery's work.
