Bean joins board
By James Shield
HOLLYWOOD star Sean Bean will be unveiled as a Sheffield United director later today.
The lifelong United fan confirmed he would accept a long-standing invitation to join the board after holding talks with a high-ranking Bramall Lane official in London over the weekend.
Bean's appointment is expected to be rubber-stamped this afternoon - he has also agreed to make "an investment" in the club, although the exact figure remains under wraps.
"Sean will be coming on board," a United spokesman told The Star. "It's been on the cards for a while but everything has now been settled. We're delighted to have him."
Bean's arrival marks the next stage of a reshuffle designed to breathe new life into United's behind-the-scenes operations.
Businessmen Steve Slinn and Chris Steer were headhunted earlier this year and plans to reorganise the club's finances are expected to gather pace when details of a new share rights issue are announced shortly.
Despite his heavy workload, Bean, who famously sports a "100 per cent Blade" tattoo, could be introduced to the crowd before Saturday's game with Walsall.
