"Silent Hill" Begins Production

Producer Samuel Hadida has announced that principal photography officially
commenced Monday, April 25th, on the suspense/horror feature "Silent Hill",
directed by Christophe Gans ("Brotherhood of the Wolf", "Crying Freeman").
"Silent Hill" is a Canada-France Co-Production from Samuel Hadida ("Domino",
"Resident Evil"; "Brotherhood of the Wolf ") and Don Carmody ("Chicago",
"Resident Evil: Apocalypse"). Victor Hadida ("Domino", "Resident Evil:
Apocalypse") and Andrew Mason ("Dark City", "The Matrix Trilogy") will
serve as Executive Producers. The screenplay was written by Roger Avary
("Pulp Fiction", "The Rules of Attraction"). Principal photography will run
through July 22nd, 2005 in Toronto, and surrounding areas in Canada.
Sean Bean ("The Island", "National Treasure", Lord of the Rings", "Troy"),
Laurie Holden ("Fantastic Four", "The Majestic"), Deborah Kara Unger ("White
Noise", "The Game", "Crash") Kim Coates ("Hostage", "Assault on Precinct 13",
"Pearl Harbor", "Black Hawk Down"), and Jodelle Ferland, ("Tideland"), join
Radha Mitchell ("Melinda and Melinda", "Finding Neverland", "Man on Fire")
all star.
"Silent Hill" is based on the hugely successful Konami game where Rose
(Radha Mitchell) is desperately searching for her lost daughter (Jodelle
Ferland) in the mysterious and terrifying town of Silent Hill, where they
are both trapped.
Rahda Mitchell was recently seen in the starring role of 'Melinda' in Woody
Allen's new film, "Melinda and Melinda" as well as in "Finding Neverland"
in the part of 'Mary', Barrie's lonely wife, for which she and her co-stars
Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet and Dustin Hoffman were nominated for a
Screen Actors Guild ensemble award. Rahda has just completed production
on "Mozart and the Whale", directed by Petter Naess, where she plays
opposite Josh Hartnett.
Sean Bean plays Rose's husband, Christopher, played 'Ian Howe' in "National
Treasure" and 'Odysseus' in "Troy", 'Boromir' in "Lord of the Rings". He also
starred in such films as "Don't Say A Word" and "Ronin" and will soon be
seen in John Fawcett's "The Dark" and "The Island" directed by Michael Bay.
Laurie Holden, who plays Cybil, a police officer, has just completed work
on "Fantastic Four" in which she stars as 'Debbie'. Laurie's credits
include "The Majestic" opposite Jim Carrey.
Deborah Kara Unger will be seen in the role of 'Dorothy' in "The Alibi" and
will play 'Dahlia' in "Silent Hill". She has recently been seen in "White Noise"
as well as "The Game" and "Crash".
Young Jodelle Ferland plays Rose's daughter, Sharon, can soon be seen
in Terry Gillian's "Tideland" opposite Jeff Bridges. Her other credits include
the television miniseries "10.5", "Kingdom Hospital", and Wes Craven's
Kim Coates plays 'Officer Gucci'. Kim has recently been seen in "Assault
on Precinct 13", "Grilled", "Hostage", "Unstoppable" as well as "Open Range",
"Black Hawk Down" and "Pearl Harbor".
Among the talented production team are Cinematographer Dan Laustsen
("The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", "Brotherhood of the Wolf"),
editors David Wu ("Brotherhood of the Wolf") and Sebastien Prangere
("Brotherhood of the Wolf"), costume designer Wendy Partridge ("Underworld",
"Hellboy"), production designer Carol Spier ("The League of Extraordinary
Gentlemen", "History of Violence" ), and creature design by Patrick
Tatopoulos ("I, Robot", "Underworld").
Producer Samuel Hadida, whose Davis Films developed the film in association
with Konami Corporation, said "Konami has sold over four million units of
the Silent Hill trilogy of games and I am thrilled that they have entrusted
me with this valuable franchise."

with this game."
Tri-Star Pictures will release in the USA. Hadida's Metropolitan Filmexport
has retained all French speaking rights and is working with Focus Features
on all aspects of international sales and marketing.
Hadida is currently in post production on Tony Scott's "Domino", starring
Kiera Knightly.
