LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Sean Bean, who played
Boromir in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and Odysseus in "Troy,"
has signed on to star in "Silent Hill," the feature adaptation of
the best-selling video game franchise.
Bean will play the husband of the female lead (Radha Mitchell),
in the story of a mother and a daughter looking into the secrets
of an abandoned town. Christophe Gans is directing, from a script
by Roger Avary ("Pulp Fiction," "Killing Zoe"). TriStar Pictures
will distribute the film.
Bean, who is shooting the untitled Niki Caro project (formerly
known as "Class Action") in New Mexico, is commuting to Toronto
to shoot "Silent Hill," which began filming this week.
The actor, who appeared last year in "National Treasure," will be
seen in Michael Bay's "The Island" in July and then in the thriller
"Flightplan," with Jodie Foster.
