Lord of Highland Flings...
Sean Bean, the dashing hero Boromir in Lord of the Rings, will
join Samantha Bond on the London stage as Shakespeare's most famous
Scottish couple, the Macbeths. The actor, who will appear in flashbacks
in the next Lord of the Rings instalment, The Two Towers, told
me a while ago how he was "itching" to return to the
theatre after a ten-year absence.
Ms Bond plays Miss Moneypenny in the 007 series, famous for her banter with Bond. In the film, Tomorrow Never Dies, she quipped: "You always were a cunning linguist, James."
However, the lines she'll deliver as Lady
Macbeth have been around much longer. Who can forget "Out,
damned spot! Out, I say!"?
The play opens at the Albery Theatre in November - the same month
as Bond film Die Another Day hits our cinemas
