Macbeth extends three weeks
Macbeth at the Albery Theatre has been extended by three weeks. The production will play up to the end of its current booking period, 1 February, then it will have a break and performances will resume on Monday 10 February for three weeks up to 1 March 2003.
Also, during the three week extension the production will play a reduced weekly performance schedule of seven performances, with no mid-week matinee.
Macbeth, which opened on 14 November 2002,
stars Sean Bean in the title role and Samantha Bond as 'Lady Macbeth'.
When the production opened The Daily Telegraph praised it as being
"one of the best productions I have ever seen of the play,
directed with a wealth of bright ideas and a real instinct for
theatrical excitement by Edward Hall... [a] gripping, hurtling-paced
production" while The Daily Mail described it as being "fast,
punchy, almost unexpectedly good Shakespeare in the West End."
