'Henry VIII' gets miniseries treatment
Winstone, Bonham Carter take lead roles

LONDON - U.K. distribber Powercorp has inked a deal with Granada, and
together with WGBH Boston will co-produce "Henry VIII," an $8 million
event miniseries, with Ray Winstone ("Sexy Beast," "Nil By Mouth") as
Henry and Helena Bonham Carter ("Planet of the Apes," "Fight Club") as
Miniseries, about the English King and his six turbulent marriages, also
features Sean Bean ("Patriot Games," "Ronin") Assumpta Serna ("The
Fencing Master", "The Worst of All"), together with Charles Dance, David
Suchet and Joss Ackland.
"Henry VIII" is written by Peter Morgan, produced by Francis Hopkinson
and directed by Peter Travis. Exec producers are Granada's Andy Harris,
Powercorp's Justin Bodle and Rebecca Eaton from WGBH Boston.
Principal photography kicked-off March 14 and is due to finish shooting in
June. Miniseries will be shot at Pinewood Studios and on location around
"Henry VIII" will be broadcast on ITV in the U.K., PBS in the U.S., CBC in
Canada and ABC in Australia. Distribution outside the U.K., U.S., Canada
and Australia will be handled by Powercorp.
Deal marks company's first move into the co-production arena. Other
co-pro's signed recently include "Jessica," a miniseries starring Sam Neill
for Australia's Channel 10, with producers Screentime and the FFC Australia,
and "Shattered City," an epic disaster TV movie starring Pete Postlethwaite
with Canadian-based Tapestry Inc. and Salter Street Film for CBC Canada.
