Equilibrium - Review - The Telegraph
Equilibrium 15 cert, 107 min
Kurt Wimmer's so-bad-it's-brilliant sci-fi thriller plays like a laugh-out-loud
spoof of every dystopian satire ever written. In this bummer of a society,
feelings are kept at bay by a drug called Prozium and the torching of all
things fun and arty (books, the Mona Lisa, etc).
Dour supercop Christian Bale goes cold turkey, and before long he's
rearranging staplers on his desk, secretly adopting puppies, and consorting
with "sense offender" Emily Watson. With its hysterically try-hard Matrixy
fight scenes and duff British supporting cast (Sean Pertwee is Big Brother),
this reaches must-see levels of portentous stupidity. It's priceless.
