The Vicar of Dibley is filmed on location in the tiny village of Turville, Buckinghamshire, with St. Mary the Virgin church doubling as St. Barnabus of Dibley. Villagers from Turville can sometimes be seen appearing as members of the congregation in the program.

The Vicarage is actually two small cottages, but one has the door covered up to give the impression of a slightly larger, but nevertheless cosy house. (The real vicar apparently lived in a huge, detached modern house further along the road.) Exterior shots of Geraldine's front door are done on location, however the interiors are filmed at the BBC's studios.

Turville has also been used for locations in the recent remake of 101 Dalmations, and a nearby windmill was seen in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The theme music for The Vicar of Dibley is the 23rd Psalm, arranged by Howard Goodall. It is available on the CD Howard Goodall's Choral Works.
