Stars climb aboard NBC's Crusoe

Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) and Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings) have joined
the cast of Crusoe, UK indie Power's adaptation of the Daniel Defoe story for
NBC.

The 13-part series, previously reported by C21, is slated for a 20.00 slot
in the fall and is being coproduced with Muse and Moonlighting. Previously
reported cast members include Philip Winchester (Thunderbirds), who plays
Crusoe, and Anna Walton (Hell Boy). Joss Ackland will appear in one episode.
Crusoe's companion Friday is yet to be cast.

Written by Stephen Gallagher (Eleventh Hour) and directed by Duane Clark
(CSI: NY), Crusoe follows the adventures of the two island dwellers while
looking in flashback at Crusoe's past life. It will be filmed in the UK, South
Africa and the Seychelles.

Justin Bodle, CEO of Power, said: "Defoe's classic story of intrepid adventure
and one man's journey of self discovery has inspired Stephen into writing a
modern interpretation that we hope will appeal to fans of the novel as well
as a new generation of action-adventure fans."

The first television version of Defoe's novel since 1964, Crusoe was
commissioned by NBC's Ben Silverman. Power is currently in negotiations
with UK broadcasters over the rights.
